Simulation Team Leader
As Simulation Team Leader, Amir is responsible for delivering high quality deliverables to our clients, setting an exemplary standard of care while meeting the needs of our diverse clientele, nationally and internationally. A self-proclaimed data geek and visual thinker, Amir combines more than a decade of energy engineering experience and storytelling techniques to translate highly technical building science principles to actionable steps on high performing projects of all scales. He is best known for bringing technical ideas to the table and complementing a design team’s efforts by presenting compelling stories, backed by simulation tools, allowing clients to make informed decisions with the speed of design. Additionally, Amir is a compassionate manager with a keen interest in lean practices for business operations and enjoys nurturing high performance teams.
Prior to joining the Cyclone team, Amir led CannnonDesign’s Environmental Performance Lab, where he worked on a variety of building typologies from healthcare to higher education and commercial buildings, advising design teams on passive and active strategies leading to lower operational cost and carbon. Amir also led the firm’s climate action planning (CAP) service line, participated in energy services business development, published peer reviewed articles and regularly presented at national conferences on building science and simulation related topics. His notable accomplishments include performance analysis on several net zero energy projects, development of one of the nationally acclaimed climate action plans for a prominent higher education client and a winning entry to the ASHRAE LowDown ShowDown Net Zero design competition.
A native of Lahijan, Iran, Amir graduated from the University at Buffalo with a PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Amir is an active member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (ASHRAE) and International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) and an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning.
In his free time, Amir enjoys playing PingPong with his friends and relishes the company of his wife and children, doing silly things that bring a smile to his loved one’s faces!
