Imprint Earns Two Green Globes for New Construction Certification
Imprint Luxury Apartments Receives Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes for New Construction certification for sustainable design and construction.
May 2022 – Cyclone Energy Group announces that the Imprint luxury apartment complex in Chicago’s South Loop achieved two Green Globes® for New Construction certification for sustainability efforts during the design and delivery process. The certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to current and future building operations best practices, occupant health and wellness, and reducing carbon emissions.
Imprint apartments are located at 717 S Clark Street in Chicago’s historic Printer’s Row neighborhood. At 31 stories tall, the building features 349 luxury rental apartment units ranging from studios to four bedroom penthouses. The building was developed by Chicago-based CMK Companies and designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture. Cyclone Energy Group was hired by CMK to provide Green Globes consulting, Energy Modeling for design optimization and Commissioning of building systems for operational energy efficiency.
“The Green Globes program reflects our commitment to designing sustainable buildings for our residents and the environment.” said Colin Kihnke, President and CEO of CMK.
Administered by the Green Building Initiative (GBI), Green Globes is a nationally recognized green rating assessment and certification system that ensures projects meet clearly defined criteria in seven assessment areas: Project Management, Site, Energy, Water, Resources, Emissions, and Indoor Environment. In addition to evaluating documentation in each of these performance areas, the Green Globes certification process includes an onsite assessment with a third-party Assessor to verify implementation.
Imprint received Green Globes level of certification due to sustainable practices such as:
- Energy efficient design
- Green roofing
- Recyclable collection
- Indoor air quality management
- Renewable building materials
- Bicycle storage
“Imprint is a great addition to Printer’s Row.” said Benjamin Skelton, President and CEO of Cyclone Energy Group. “CMK made the commitment to sustainability at the beginning of the project and it’s fantastic to see the recognition by the Green Building Initiative.”
Green Globes offers the invaluable support of a Green Globes Assessor, who interfaces with project teams and building owners in real-time to create powerful partnerships and offers personalized recommendations for improvement. GBI’s President & CEO Vicki Worden says this unique high-touch approach offers significant advantages. “The assessor helps design teams, building owners, and facility managers identify opportunities and improvements ideally suited to their individual projects,” notes Worden. “The assessor’s final walk through of the building provides a value-add for the team, recognizing their efforts, and a level of assurance that i’s were dotted and t’s crossed to help ensure the best return on the owner’s green building investment. “
