Energy Code Consulting
Energy codes vary by state and local jurisdiction and are continually becoming more stringent. Our team can help navigate this complicated landscape by determining design requirements and the most beneficial path to compliance. Models can be used to demonstrate certification program and regulatory compliance and to support research initiatives and consulting studies. Cyclone Energy Group holds licenses in several states.
Energy Modeling
Energy Modeling, also known as Building Performance Simulation (BPS), uses sophisticated software to create a virtual model to predict the energy performance of a building. Models can be used to evaluate comparative design scenarios, demonstrate certification program and regulatory compliance, and support research initiatives and consulting studies.
Commissioning
Commissioning (Cx) is the process of verifying that designated systems within a newly constructed building achieve the owner’s project performance requirements and/or certification program and regulatory compliance. The scope of commissioning can include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety equipment and controls as well as physical components such as the exterior envelope. Cyclone Energy Group provides all levels of Measurement and Verification services, including LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning.
Measurement and Verification
Measurement and Verification (M&V) formally quantifies the savings created through the implementation of an Energy Conservation Measure (ECM). The primary M&V activities include: estimating anticipated savings, developing an M&V plan, and creating a final M&V report. The assumptions and variables used to create the initial savings calculations are validated through on-site measurements and diagnostics of building systems, collection and analysis of performance data, and a review of affected utility bills. Our M&V services satisfy all ASHRAE and LEED program compliance requirements.
Sustainability and Wellness Consulting
We understand that the life-cycle transitions between design, construction, and occupancy can be challenging for all parties involved, and we function seamlessly across those phases as your trusted energy adviser. We provide your design and construction teams with an integrated approach, offering them exceptional analysis and well-targeted recommendations to support the creation and coordination of all critical project documentation. For projects pursuing formal certifications, such as LEED, Green Globes©, and ENERGY STAR®, we support your project team with the guidance necessary to achieve those certifications.
WELL Performance Verification
WELL is the premier framework for certifying and creating spaces that advance health and well-being for building occupants. Performance Verification helps ensure that evidence-based health and well-being strategies have been implemented and are performing as planned. Cyclone is a WELL Performance Testing Organization with Certified WELL Performance Testing Agents. On-site performance testing is required for WELL certification and the results of the data collected for each applicable feature are reviewed by the GBCI to determine whether a feature has been achieved. Once the project is complete and the space is occupied, a site visit is scheduled for our skilled authorized WELL assessor(s) to validate the project’s design documentation and building performance and complete the performance testing. Performance testing verifies the quality of air, water, light, thermal comfort, and sound features in the building. Cyclone uses the latest approved instruments to conduct the tests, works with accredited labs, and follows a strict QAQC protocol to deliver the best pre-testing and WELL Performance Testing Services.

Retro-Commissioning
Retro-Commissioning (RCx) is the process of improving the operating efficiency and occupant comfort of existing buildings. Whether issues originated in design or construction or developed during the building’s life, we can identify opportunities for operational changes or equipment upgrades to improve building performance and extend its asset value. We provide a full-spectrum of services for existing buildings including benchmarking, certification program and regulatory compliance documentation, delivery of utility program incentives, Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx), and capital improvement project planning and owner’s representation.
Monitoring-Based Commissioning
Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) is also known as continuous optimization, persistent commissioning, ongoing commissioning, and by the trademarked name “continuous commissioning®.” MBCx is similar to Retro-Commissioning (RCx) in that the intent is to keep existing buildings performing at optimal levels. However, unlike single RCx initiatives, MBCx utilizes sensors and software to provide real-time, continuous feedback about building performance. By monitoring and analyzing large amounts of data, MBCx can identify and correct any decreases in building performance over time, thereby insuring that energy savings last into the future.

Drone Services
cyFLY is our DJI Matrice 300 RTK commercially licensed drone. This powerful aircraft can fly high-accuracy routes, both outside and inside your building, taking high-resolution 12-megapixel 4K photographs and video. The Zenmuse XT2 dual camera provides infrared imaging and radiometric images displaying temperature readings for each pixel. Our team of licensed and trained pilots navigate the drone to support envelope commissioning, building leak detection, building surveys, imaging of roofs and inaccessible areas, project photography and videography, as well as 3D imaging. cyFLY can be used for buildings over 1,000 feet tall.
